FAIRVIEW PARK, which has been in the works for at least 6 years, will hopefully become reality soon. With 22 acres of projected parkland, FAIRVIEW PARK would bring new play space to Staten Island. Projected, together with acres of parkland, would be ballfields, athletic fields, baseball courts and tennis courts.
FAIRVIEW PARK will be located in Charleston, a town once known as Kreisherville. This industrial town was home of a brick-making factory that closed in 1927.
The construction of this property will bring much-needed recreational area to the South Shore. An article in the local newspaper last year stated that the South Shore on Staten Island “has approximately 1/3 of the Island’s population but just two of 32 (6%) of city parks 32 baseball and softball fields”.
